Understanding Building Regulations

Protecting Lives Through Reliable Communication

In the face of emergencies, reliable communication is paramount. Public Safety Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), also known as Emergency Responder Communications Enhancement Systems (ERCES), stand as a critical lifeline, ensuring first responders maintain clear, uninterrupted communication within complex buildings. As building codes increasingly mandate these systems, building owners bear the essential responsibility of staying informed and compliant.

Critical Considerations for Building Owners

Building owners must proactively address Public Safety DAS compliance. This involves:

  • Accurate Code Interpretation: We assist in determining your building's specific compliance obligations by meticulously reviewing local building codes.
  • Rigorous System Testing and Certification: We emphasize the importance of regular testing and certification, ensuring your system operates flawlessly during emergencies. We provide comprehensive testing services to meet all regulatory requirements.
  • Mitigating the Consequences of Non-Compliance: Non-compliance can lead to substantial fines, legal penalties, and, most importantly, compromised safety. We help you avoid these risks by ensuring your system is fully compliant.

PlexTron Technologies provides clear, expert guidance to help avoid costly

mistakes and delays. When the building is near 85% completion, we will first perform a Signal Validation test outside and inside, testing for available tower signal overall and in Critical Areas to a Distributed Audio Quality of 3.4-Uplink & amp; Downlink. If a building needs a system as shown on the Signal report we will engineer and design a system to meet all applicable codes including:

*2018 International Fire Code 510

*2022 National Fire Protection Association 1225

*2021 International Building Code Section 918.1

*UL 2524

If a system is not required, we will provide an FCC GROL Stamped signal

report to be sent to the Fire Marshal and the building owner.

Otherwise, when a design and Bill of Material are developed, the design will

be sent to the Fire Marshal/AHJ for their approval. A System Cost will be

calculated and turned over to the building owner for approval.

Once approved, PlexTron Technologies will begin the installation. Afterwards we will provide a comprehensive documentation package to be reviewed and signed off by the Fire Marshal/AHJ and will schedule the final test walkthrough. A copy of the accepted document package will remain at the system headend for review during yearly fire inspections.
